| Thomas Gray & Associates,
Inc.
Founded in 1970, Thomas Gray & Associates, Inc. is a family
of companies that provide radioactive, hazardous, and mixed waste
packaging, brokerage, processing, transportation and disposal services
nationwide. Over the years, regulatory compliance and customer service
have been our foremost considerations.
Thomas
Gray & Associates, Inc. (TGA) in Orange, California serves as
the corporate headquarters and is licensed/permitted for hazardous,
mixed, and radioactive waste storage. TGA serves mainly as a consolidation
point for these waste streams. No processing is conducted at the
Orange facility. For waste disposal, TGA has established long term
relationships with Chem-Nuclear Systems, Inc. (Barnwell), US Ecology,
Inc. (Richland), Perma-Fix,Inc. (Gainesville), NSSI (Houston), Duratek,
Inc. (Oak Ridge) and Envirocare of Utah. In addition, consumable
packaging supplies and containers provided to waste generators are
stored at/shipped from this facility. TGA also offers transportation
services with an emphasis on hazardous & radioactive transportation.
Fully permitted and licensed to operate in the contiguous States,
TGA offers complete logistics management with strict compliance
of numerous local, state and federal laws and regulations. TGA’s
regulatory compliance record is exemplary and is staffed with professionals
that total over 100 years of experience with safe transportation
of all types of commodities. Our drivers are specially trained in
the packaging, manifesting and shipping of hazardous and radioactive
materials. In order to maintain the most current and rigid safety
standards, TGA drivers are continually trained and tested.
Thomas Gray & Associates corporation also wholly owns two additional
waste processing/storage facilities. In addition to specialized
operations, each facility offers brokerage services to local/regional
customers.
Environmental Management & Controls, Inc. (EMC) is located in
Turlock, California. EMC is the only commercial facility in California
that is licensed for waste processing. EMC offers waste processing
capabilities including segregation, consolidation, and supercompaction
of dry solid waste material, solidification and absorption (where
applicable) of aqueous liquid waste streams, and waste stabilization
of devices and sealed sources using high integrity containers and
concrete encapsulation. EMC has become a leader in the disposal
of NORM/NARM/Exempt waste streams. Generators' radium sources, instruments,
and devices can be processed and disposed economically at the USE-Richland
facility regardless of the generator's location.
Radioactive Waste Management, Inc. (RWM) is located in Salt Lake
City, Utah and mainly provides storage for decay services for radioactive
wastes with half-lives of 90 days or less. This facility was constructed
specifically for this purpose and has a 6,000 drum capacity. After
storage, wastes are inspected for radioactivity. Solid materials
are mechanically dumped onto a conveyor system into tub containers
provided to RWM by a medical waste incineration company located
in Salt Lake City. RWM can also store longer half-life waste and
is also a consolidation point for waste destined for Turlock or
Orange facilities.
